The field of international relations is witnessing profound structural transformations that confound classical explanatory models especially amidst the erosion of sovereignty concepts and the disintegration of the firm boundaries of political agency. Faced with this complex reality this paper poses a central question: can quantum physics offer an alternative theoretical paradigm for understanding the transformations of the contemporary international system? The study draws on central quantum concepts such as superposition, uncertainty and nonlinearity, in an attempt to translate them into analytical tools for understanding international relations that no longer adhere to traditional dichotomies like local/global or political/economic Critiquing positivist and materialist models in international theory this paper proposes a new conceptual reading inspired by theorists like Alexander Wendt and James Der Derian who connected theoretical physics with political theory It hypothesizes that quantum theory offers not just a metaphor but an ontological and epistemological shift prompting a re-evaluation of core concepts like agency identity and sovereignty. The paper aims to develop a new international relations approach that transcends classical reductionism by questioning its foundational assumptions It also seeks to bridge natural and social sciences using flexible conceptual tools suited for todays complex networked reality where the digital revolution has intertwined and fragmented power sovereignty and political identities
