Startups and innovative projects have become a crucial component in many countries' efforts to overcome economic constraints and drive economic and social growth. Algeria is no exception, as the Algerian government has shown interest in promoting startups and increasing their role in the country's economy. However, the establishment and growth of startups require continuous support and accompanying measures, from the ideation phase to the realization of the project. This paper aims to provide an overview of the Algerian government's perspective on promoting startups since the issuance of Executive Decree No. 20-254. The paper also identifies the key measures that have been taken regarding legislative and regulatory aspects, diversification of funding sources, incubation, support, and accompanying structures. By exploring the resources, potential, and structures that the Algerian government has allocated to drive the growth of the startup sector, this paper offers recommendations for accelerating the growth of the startup sector and facilitating the country's transition towards knowledge, technology, and sustainable growth.
