Tourism is one of the most significant topics that has captured and continue to capture the attention of countries worldwide. In some nations, the tourism sector is a fundamental pillar, while in others, it serves as an alternative. The tourism industry has witnessed considerable development on an international scale, both in terms of the number of tourists and the revenues generated. This study aims at exploring the extent to which the tourism sector contributes to fostering economic diversification in Algeria, moving away from its reliance on the oil sector. The study concluded that, similar to many other countries, Algeria possesses a range of assets that enable it to compete with leading nations in the field of tourism. In recent years, Algeria has recognized the importance of tourism as an imperative to transition away from its dependence on the petroleum industry. The country has been actively working to organize the tourism sector through various programs and strategies, most notably the Tourism Development Master Plan (SDAT) leading up to 2030.
