Abstract

The museum was, and still is, a non-profit educational institution established to collect and preserve human heritage for educational, cultural and community service purposes. The idea of establishing museums began with the preservation of valuable objects. The purpose of establishing them is not commercial, but rather the supreme goal of establishing them is to serve and develop society and strive to enhanceThe concept of cultural heritage within it because museums are not just buildings that contain masterpieces of art, heritage and antiquities, these cultural institutions are considered effective factors in promoting human thought, in the city of Hillah, there are four museums, the most prominent of which is the Hillah Contemporary Museum, in addition to that, the city includes museums that include Babylonian and historical antiquities, folklore, art, political and military, currencies, documents, and others. Hillah Contemporary Museum is located in the city of Hillah, and is considered one of the most prominent archaeological and heritage museums in Iraq. This museum has received special attention from the Department of Antiquities and World Heritage, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, and Babylon Governorate, making it one of the favorite destinations for visitors wishing to explore its landmarks and sites. The museum attracts tourists from all over the world. The construction of this museum dates back to the last century, and reflects the ingenuity and precision of the design of the engineers and artists of that era. The establishment of the museum aims to introduce the antiquities and culture of the Hillah community in particular, and the Iraqi community in general. The museum policy seeks to enhance this heritage and introduce it within a cultural framework that suits the needs and requirements of the community. It also contributes to providing accurate information about the city’s history and heritage, which contributes to establishing communication and transferring heritage across generations. Museums are considered a strong fortress for our heritage and the heritage of our ancestors throughout the ages, as they embrace a history and civilization dating back to various time periods. It is necessary to highlight this heritage for future generations, as they are our future. We must enhance their sense of Iraqi-Babylonian national belonging and instill in them a love of heritage and civilization. We must also establish a close relationship between the new generations, in their various categories, so that the people have an Arab-Islamic identity in a world of globalization that strives to obliterate this Islamic identity by all means and methods.
