Abstract
European explorers paid great attention to the Algerian Sahara. In the 19th century AD, talk about it was linked to the campaigns carried out by the French, especially the military. One of these Frenchmen was Commander Cavaignac, who led a military expedition to southwestern Algeria in the months of April and May of the year 1847 AD, in which he accompanied scholars and specialists in Several fields, including Felix Jaco, who wrote down all the aspects of the campaign and the itinerary it took, and highlighted the historical and geographical importance of southwestern Algeria through the geology of the region and its historical and natural human qualifications.
