Abstract

Abstract: Objective: The current study is investigated to determine whether melody intonation therapy which aims to increase the severity of phonological paraphasias Symptoms for patient with broca’s Aphasia based on achieving self-correction of phonological errors by Improving awareness of the phonemes which he produces. Background: The most effective method for treating type Broca's aphasia, which is intended to recover fluent language, is melodic intonation therapy. it is Step-by-step therapy using music to support speech output for people with aphasia, by capitalize on the patient's ability o sing then fusing music with words and phrases for facilitate produce verbal language. Methods: Based on the single-group design, we deliberately chose the patient A.B., an 83-year-old patient who was diagnosed by a neurologist, as having suffered a stroke on the left side of the brain. We assessed his language abilities in particular with respect to expressive language abnormalities before applying the method. Then he underwent treatment for three months in individual sessions on a method (rhythm, tone) to increase verbal fluency, and after putting the method to use, we reevaluated the severity of his disorder (pre- and post-evaluation) by ‘MTA’ test. Results: After using the method and evaluating the patient's speech, we were able to determine the proportion of effectiveness of the method in reducing the severity of paraphasia phonological by MTA test's , The result was a total score (p = 80%) in the pre evaluation . However, after 15 sessions of applying the technique, we recorded (p= 50%), and at last, in the post evaluation, we obtained (p= 20%), which shows the value of melody intonation treatment in raising PP. Conclusion: Broca's aphasia speech output may be improved with training in melody intonation therapy by reducing the severity of phonological paraphasia by gaining access to self-correction.
