This article highlights the connections between the symbols found on two stelae from the ancient city of Lambafundi in Numidia, demonstrating how these symbols collaboratively convey the hypothetic commissioner’s intended message. These stelae are not only abundant in symbolism but also seem to express a cohesive message that offers significant insights into the cultural beliefs regarding death, the afterlife, and possibly the reverence and association of ancestors in memorial practices. The hypothesis presented in this paper suggests that lares, the protective deities associated with the household and its territory in ancient Roman religions, may have also played a role in the commemoration of the dead.
