الملخص
تعتبر المراسلات مصدرا هاما من مصادر كتابة التاريخ، وهي تحمل شخصية المرسل، وتعطينا صورة عن الواقع التاريخي لتلك الفترة، وتعد مراسلات الشيخ أحمد البكاي (ت1865م) للعلماء والأمراء من أهم المراسلات السياسية التي أسهمت في تدوين بعض الأحداث التاريخية في السودان الغربي. وسنحاول من خلال هذا المقال تسليط الضوء على إحدى المراسلات التي اشتهر بها الشيخ أحمد البكاي، وتعد من بين أهم النوازل المتعلقة بأحكام التعامل مع أهل الذمة في بلاد المسلمين، جاءت في شكل جواب على رسالة للأمير أحمد الثالث الماسيني حول استضافة المستكشف الألماني هنري بارث. The study of political correspondence is a significant source for writing history, as it reflects the personality, intellectual, and political affiliation of the sender, and provides an image of the historical reality of that period. The correspondences of Shaykh A. al-Bakkay with scholars and rulers are considered among the most important political communications that contributed to recording some historical events in Western Sudan. The article attempts to shed light on one of the letters for which Shaykh Ahmad al-Bakkay is renowned, considered among the most important issues concerning the rulings on dealing with Ahl al-Dhimma. It came in the form of a response to a letter from Emir Ahmad III of Massina regarding the hosting of Heinrich Barth.
