Algerian poetry paved the way for the outbreak of the Algerian Liberation Revolution, bearing witness to the pre-revolutionary signs. The first signs of resistance can be traced back to popular poetry before and during the phase of popular resistance. The era of eloquent poetry began with the verses of Emir Abdelkader during his resistance, followed by the 1930s and 1940s, especially after the events of May 8, 1945, leading up to the independence of Algeria. Throughout these stages, Algerian poetry served as a powerful revolutionary witness. Just as Algerian poetry became synonymous with revolutionary poetry on a broad scale, it also witnessed a poetry revolution starting from the late 1920s with the efforts of poet Ramadan Hamoud, and continuing into the 1950s through innovations in form and content.
