Abstract: At the time of its establishment, the African National Movement in Guinea may seem small and weak, far from an influential political struggle, but it carries the seeds of development and strength. This is because it reflects a grim reality and anticipates a bright future, and it also compels African peoples to unite and join forces. Although France initiated reforms in an attempt to maintain its influence in the region, the people insisted on restoring their sovereignty. Ahmed Sekou Toure played a leading role in pushing Guinea towards independence, affirming the idea that independence could not be served to them on a plate by an imperialist state. He was determined to fight for the dignity, freedom and future of his land and people, building a strong state with an independent identity and sovereign institutions capable of competing with Nations in the international arena.
