Characteristics Of Child And Juvenile Crime And Prevention Options

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to present the crime prevention system of Hungary, with a particular focus on how effective alternative prevention tools can be used in reducing the number of crimes committed by juveniles. The paper deals with the definition and conceptual elements of crime prevention in detail. In addition to explaining the goals and principles of prevention, the levels of crime prevention often interpreted by legal scholars from a different perspective are also discussed. The research results based on the analysis of the valid Hungarian legal sources and the literature on the topic show that juvenile delinquency is a current problem in Hungary, the effective and long-term treatment of which is not ensured only by narrowly interpreted legal methods. It is also necessary to develop and put into practice alternative preventive tools that have a positive effect on the internal values of the juvenile. The causes and characteristic features of juvenile delinquency, the prevention options are also featured, with particular emphasis on the valid Hungarian national strategies and the institution of aftercare.
