Résumé

The perception of the imaginary in philosophy and literature: The case of Gabriel García Márquez in Cien años de Soledad Imaginary, imagination, image are all projections in the mind of the human being that go beyond thought, sensible speech and reason. Many philosophers and writers of all ages have made in-depth studies of this space to which they give an approximate, completing or different definition. According to Pascal, in his collection "Thoughts" and precisely in the chapter entitled "The Misery of Man Without God: The Misleading Powers", the philosopher states that the imagination is this “deceptive part of man, this master of error and falsity, and the more perfidious because it is not always so; for it would have been an infallible rule of truth if it were an infallible rule of lie. But, although it is for the most part false, it gives no mark of its quality, marking with the same sign the true and the false”(Pascal, 1962: 65). Our presentation will be based on a series of definitions of these concepts and their critical approaches as part of a reading theory, which is not an interpretation act but rather one that suggests an opening and engages a number of questionings. We have chosen authors from the seventeenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Also, to illustrate our presentation, we will open our text with the lyrics of an emblematic song about the imagination, and finally we will end our analysis with, as a basis, the novel of the Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez "Cien años de soledad" that plunges us into the world of the imaginary.
