The threshold of the ending is a fundamental component in narrative structure, where the results of events and semantic conflicts are concentrated, and the text's structural completion is announced. Despite the variety of terms such as "end," "closure," and "conclusion," the term "ending" encompasses both finality and completeness while allowing the text to continue generating meaning in the reader's mind. Endings are not of a single type but vary between closed endings that achieve semantic satisfaction and open endings that enable interpretive openness and reader participation in meaning-making, thus serving as a threshold for exiting the text rather than a marker of its final closure.
