Résumé

Abstract This study aims to analyze the role of satellite systems in delivering and supporting scientific knowledge across the world, particularly in rural, desert, mountainous, island, and underserved areas suffering from weak communication infrastructure. The importance of the study stems from the increasing shift toward the digital economy and e-learning, which require communication technologies capable of overcoming geographical and economic barriers. The study adopts the descriptive-analytical approach and relies on previous studies, international reports, and statistical indicators issued by relevant global organizations. The findings reveal that satellite systems have become a global knowledge infrastructure supporting e-learning, universities, digital libraries, scientific research, remote sensing, and reducing digital and knowledge gaps among societies. The study also shows that effective utilization of satellite systems contributes to building knowledge societies and achieving sustainable development, provided that supportive policies, adequate funding, digital skills development, and international academic cooperation are ensured.
