باتت النّصوص الأدبيّة اليوم فضاء لإنتاج المعنى، وأصبح خلق التّفاعل الفكري بين الكاتب والقارئ ضرورة أدبيّة ملحّة على اعتبار أنّ المستوى الدّلالي هو المبتغى الأوّل من وراء كلّ ممارسة أدبيّة، لأنّه يحفّز على التّأمل في التّجربة الإنسانيّة ويكشف عن أبعاد الحياة الدّاخليّة للإنسان المعاصر بكل تعقيداتها الفكريّة والنّفسيّة والسّياسيّة والاجتماعيّة، لذلك يعمل إيقاع الأفكار في الخطابات النّثريّة كمحرّك يضبط السّرد ويحدّد سرعته بحيث يتناغم مع الحالة الفكريّة والشّعوريّة للمتلقي الذي يشارك الكاتب في بناء المعنى، والقصّة القصيرة ليست إلّا انعكاساً لحركة الفكر والشّعور معاً، ونسعى من خلال هذه الدّراسة إلى الوقوف على الرّمزيّة والدّلالات الفكريّة التي جسّدتها قصّة "جدران من الحديد" لغسّان كنفاني والتي عكست الإيقاع الفكري المتوتّر والمشحون بالرّموز المكثّفة، الذي نجم عن حالة الاستلاب والاختناق والصّراع الدّاخلي بين الاستسلام للواقع المعيش وبين البحث عن سبل التّحرّر. Contemporary literary texts have increasingly become spaces for the production of meaning, where fostering intellectual engagement between the writer and the reader has emerged as an essential literary imperative. This is because the semantic dimension constitutes the primary objective of every literary endeavor, encouraging reflection on the human experience while revealing the intellectual, psychological, political, and social complexities of contemporary inner life. Within prose discourse, the rhythm of ideas functions as a dynamic force that regulates the narrative and determines its pace in harmony with the reader’s intellectual and emotional state, thereby enabling the reader to participate actively in the construction of meaning. The short story, in this sense, is a reflection of the movement of both thought and emotion. This study therefore seeks to examine the symbolism and intellectual significance embodied in Ghassan Kanafani’s Walls of Iron, a story that captures a tense intellectual rhythm charged with dense symbolism, arising from a profound sense of alienation, suffocation, and the inner conflict between surrendering to lived reality and striving for liberation.
