This paper evaluates a physical protection strategy for data centers that relies on electromagnetic shielding materials to reduce both internal and external electromagnetic interference. The approach incorporates a range of conventional and composite conductive materials and combines analytical modeling, numerical simulation, and experimental measurement techniques to predict the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (SE) of these materials. Initially, an analytical model based on the Transmission Line Method (TLM) is validated through far-field numerical simulations conducted using Ansys HFSS. Experimental measurements are then performed using an open coaxial probe in accordance with the ASTM D4935 standard and a DTEM cell. Subsequently, the analytical model is extended to near-field, low-frequency applications and validated using COMSOL Multiphysics. Finally, experimental results are presented for the investigated conductive shielding solutions across a wide frequency spectrum using both the DTEM cell and coaxial probe methods. The proposed protection framework enables accurate SE prediction through multiple modeling approaches, enhancing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), operational reliability, and the resilience of critical infrastructure, thereby contributing to the development of a robust defense architecture for next-generation secure data centers.
