Abstract: This study analyzes the impact of food waste on environmental sustainability within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, employing the 'Ecological Footprint' as a primary measurement tool. The significance of this research stems from the region's unique environmental sensitivity) characterized by acute water scarcity and an arid desert climate ( contrasted with high consumption patterns. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach, the study examines data from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and relevant local authorities.the findings indicate that food waste in the GCC is primarily driven by consumer behavior, which significantly amplifies the ecological footprint beyond Arab and global averages. This inflation is attributed to the high cost of 'virtual water' and the extensive carbon footprint associated with food transportation and imports, ultimately posing a critical threat to the region's future food and water security.
