George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four continues to endure as more than just a dystopian novel. It is a mirror reflecting the international political and surveillance situation of our own age. This research examines how Orwell’s ideas of doublethink, memory manipulation, and surveillance endure in today’s political and technological realities. Rather than treating the novel as a remnant of the past, the study asks whether it serves as a warning against authoritarianism or, disturbingly, as a playbook for those who exert power through fear and control. By connecting literary analysis with contemporary practices, this paper highlights the urgent relevance of Orwell’s vision and calls for renewed vigilance in protecting truth, freedom, and human dignity in the twenty-first century.
