Résumé

Abstract: This study examines the nature of digital political discourse of Algerian political parties on social media platforms, revealing the dominance of a unidirectional approach that limits opportunities for dialogue and accountability. The research highlights the gap between the interactive potential offered by the digital environment and the parties’ actual practices, which remain attached to a traditional approach that reinforces the divide between elites and the public. The study also explores the political and cultural contexts that influence this discourse and constrain its ability to engage genuinely with the audience. It indicates that party pages often function primarily as channels for announcements and promotion, lacking effective interactive tools such as discussions or polls. The study concludes with a critical perspective calling for a fundamental shift in the communication culture of parties, emphasizing active public engagement in political debate and decision-making, and leveraging digital potential to enhance sustained participation and interaction between political actors and citizens.
