Résumé

This study aimed to evaluate the importance and feasibility of integrating Libyan heritage into mathematics teaching, in addition to identifying the associated challenges from the perspective of mathematics teachers at the basic education level in Benghazi, Libya. The study also aimed to reveal the existence of statistically significant differences in teachers' estimates of the importance and feasibility of integrating Libyan heritage into mathematics teaching and the associated challenges according to the study variables (academic qualification, stage taught, teaching experience). To achieve the study objectives, the descriptive-analytical approach was used, and a questionnaire consisting of (31) items was distributed to a random sample of (257) male and female teachers teaching mathematics at the basic education level (first grade to ninth grade) in Benghazi. The results showed high estimates of the importance and feasibility of integrating heritage into teaching, as well as the existence of obstacles that prevent this integration. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in teachers’ estimates of the importance and extent of the feasibility of integrating Libyan heritage into the teaching of mathematics and the challenges associated with it according to the study variables (academic qualification, the stage they teach, and teaching experience).
