Résumé

This study investigates the transition in the Algerian novel from 'representation' as historical documentation to 're-presentation' as a tool for deconstructing silenced narratives. It aims to explore how Mohamed Ben Jabar’s novel, Al-Harki, breaks the silence of the margin through the protagonist's character. The study seeks to expose the ugliness of colonialism by portraying this character as a 'human monster' embodying the loss of identity between belonging and alienation, while analyzing the aesthetic mechanisms used to reconstruct colonial memory beyond traditional binaries (hero/traitor). The findings conclude that fictional imagination succeeds in reclaiming the right to write history from monophonic narratives, transforming the novel into a space for discursive conflict that rehabilitates excluded margins and provides a deeper critical insight into the obscured aspects of national memory.
