Résumé

Abstract: This study aimed to reveal the semiotics of performance in Arabic poetry recitation as a complex communicative system that merges vocal variables with the psychology of aesthetic response in the recipient, seeking to compensate for the aesthetic deficiency resulting from the silent visual reading that prevailed during the era of codification. The research adopted a descriptive-analytical approach to deconstruct the structure of recitation through techniques of stress, vocal pressure, pause, and silence, analyzing them as encoded semiotic messages within a media and communicative discourse intended to achieve an emotional impact on the audience. The study reached several fundamental results, most notably that poetry recitation constitutes an integrated "semiotic representation" in which motor nerve centers perform an organic function linking physical movements to mental images, thereby creating a state of mutual emotional and neural unity between the performing self and the horizon of aesthetic reception. Furthermore, the results proved the existence of a strong organic link between the rhythm of poetic meters and the human vital pulse; for instance, the "Al-Tawil" and "Al-Basit" meters correspond with deep breathing rates during states of sober emotion, which enhances the sincerity of the emotional experience and its persuasive power in mass communication spaces. The study also showed that strict adherence to the rules of correct pausing and rhyme movement contributes to maintaining the text's musical system and prevents its transformation into a prosaic texture during delivery, emphasizing that the "semiotics of appearance"—manifested in traditional attire, dignity, and gestural movements—represent non-linguistic semiological codes that grant poetic discourse prestige and communicative authority in media and literary forums. The study concludes that the ear is the natural medium for every linguistic culture, highlighting the significant functional potential that modern communication media, such as radio, can provide in contributing to the restoration of the "cultural ear" and sound poetic taste. This facilitates overcoming the state of alienation from poetic music caused by silent paper media, stressing the necessity of utilizing these media as educational and communicative tools to consolidate awareness of the vocal essence of the Arabic language and to reconnect generations with the core of natural chanting permitted by the authentic Arabic disposition.
