تبرز أهمية هذا البحث في دراسة العلاقة بين الأداء التحكيمي والمعرفة القانونية لدى حكام الدرجة الأولى في محافظة النجف الأشرف، لما لهذه العلاقة من دور مباشر في تطوير مستوى التحكيم والارتقاء به بما يتماشى مع متطلبات المنافسة واحتياجات كرة القدم الحديثة, وبناءً على ذلك، تتحدد مشكلة البحث في التساؤل عن طبيعة العلاقة بين الأداء التحكيمي والمعرفة القانونية لدى حكام الدرجة الأولى بكرة القدم في محافظة النجف الأشرف، وما إذا كانت هذه المعرفة تمثل عاملاً مؤثرًا في تحسين مستوى الأداء ورفع كفاءة التحكيم المحلي. ومن هذا المنطلق، يسعى الباحث إلى الكشف عن مستوى المعرفة القانونية لدى حكام الدرجة الأولى وتوضيح مدى ارتباطها بأدائهم التحكيمي, التعرف على طبيعة العلاقة بين الأداء التحكيمي والمعرفة القانونية لحكام الدرجة الأولى بكرة القدم, يُعد المنهج أحد الركائز الأساسية في إنجاز البحوث العلمية، إذ يمثل الطريق الذي يسلكه الباحث لتحديد خطوات عمله والوصول إلى حلول مناسبة لمشكلته البحثية. ونظرًا لطبيعة هذا البحث ومتطلباته الميدانية، فقد اعتمد الباحث المنهج الوصفي باعتباره الأنسب لتحقيق أهداف الدراسة ومعالجة المشكلة المطروحة وبناءً على ذلك، فقد حدد الباحث مجتمع بحثه في حكام الدرجة الأولى لكرة القدم بمحافظة النجف الأشرف للموسم (2025–2026)، والبالغ عددهم (20) حكماً، حيث تم اعتماد أسلوب الحصر الشامل في اختيار العينة,وتوصل الباحث الى وجود علاقة طردية دالة إحصائياً بين المعرفة القانونية والأداء التحكيمي، مما يدل على أن ارتفاع مستوى إلمام الحكم بقانون اللعبة ينعكس بشكل مباشر على جودة قراراته وأدائه داخل الملعب , واستنتج تطوير برامج تدريبية متخصصة في القانون التحكيمي تتضمن شرحاً مفصلاً لأحدث التعديلات والتفسيرات الصادرة عن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (FIFA). The importance of this research lies in studying the relationship between refereeing performance and legal knowledge among first-division football referees in Najaf Governorate. This relationship plays a direct role in developing and improving the level of refereeing to meet the demands of competition and the needs of modern football. Accordingly, the research problem is defined as the nature of the relationship between refereeing performance and legal knowledge among first-division football referees in Najaf Governorate, and whether this knowledge represents an influential factor in improving performance levels and raising the efficiency of local refereeing. From this perspective, the researcher seeks to reveal the level of legal knowledge among first-division referees and clarify its correlation with their refereeing performance. The methodology is one of the fundamental pillars of conducting scientific research, as it represents the path the researcher takes to define their work steps and arrive at appropriate solutions to their research problem. Given the nature of this research and its field requirements, the researcher adopted the descriptive approach as the most suitable for achieving the study's objectives and addressing the problem at hand. Accordingly, the researcher defined the research population as first-division football referees in Najaf Governorate for the 2025–2026 season, totaling (20) referees. A comprehensive census was used to select the sample. The researcher concluded that there is a statistically significant positive relationship between legal knowledge and refereeing performance, indicating that a referee's high level of familiarity with the Laws of the Game directly impacts the quality of their decisions and performance on the field. The researcher concluded by recommending the development of specialized training programs in the Laws of the Game, including a detailed explanation of the latest amendments and interpretations issued by FIFA.
