Résumé

The digital dinar project is part of the global momentum surrounding the development of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). This article examines the Algerian digital dinar initiative through a comparative case study of the Nigerian (e-Naira) and Chinese (e-CNY) experiences. The analysis highlights contrasting trajectories in terms of governance, deployment strategies, and levels of adoption. The findings indicate that the success of a CBDC depends primarily on institutional coherence, integration within the financial ecosystem, and users’ trust. Based on these insights, the paper formulates lessons and policy recommendations to inform the implementation of the digital dinar in Algeria.
