Résumé

This article discusses pornography addiction as a form of behavioral disorder that is strongly shaped by cultural and religious contexts. The paper highlights the central role of social stigma, which functions as a major barrier to seeking help and accessing treatment in conservative societies. Such stigma often appears through moral judgments and feelings of shame and guilt, whereas in more liberal environments the disorder may be minimized or viewed as a normal behavior. The review emphasizes the crucial importance of cultural context when studying the phenomenon or providing clinical care. It also underscores that effective treatment requires an integrated therapeutic approach, particularly the combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition, the article stresses the significant role of sexual education in preventing both pornography addiction and the social stigma surrounding it.
