Résumé

Abstract This article challenges the timelessness of Ghassan Kanafani Men in the Sun as a means of interpreting the displacement existing, and specifically the humanitarian crisis, in Gaza. It analyzes the key themes of the novella confusion, perilous travel, uncertainty, impossibility and pressures of the environment and places them in the life of the displaced Palestinians who demonstrate how systemic oppression, neglect and vulnerability intersect to form human suffering. This study demonstrates that Kanafani envisioned the frequent crises his people faced, describing displacement as an event that encompasses physical risk, ethical dilemmas, and social marginalization. By connecting textual analysis with contemporary humanitarian realities, the research opens up a new view of displacement, resilience, and ethical responsibility within texts in recent years. To this end, it emphasizes the ability of literature to reach beyond history and reveal fundamental implications of memory politics, structural inequality, and the human cost of marginalization, and adds to knowledge by connecting literary representation to empirical knowledge about contemporary crises in Palestine.
