Abstract: This study examines the phenomenon of genre interweaving within narrative discourses, aiming to explore the ways in which prominent Arabic novelistic models have opened up to multiple literary genres. In this context, the study highlights the creative experiences of writers such as Kamel Grour, Mustafa Ould Youssef, and Mona Bachlam, who incorporate elements derived from theatrical arts, short stories, and poetry, in addition to other literary genres that have gained significant presence in the contemporary Arabic novel. Accordingly, the study first establishes the conceptual and theoretical framework of the notion of the “literary genre” by reviewing the most prominent critical perspectives associated with it. It then investigates the interactive relationship between the novel and other literary genres through an applied analysis of selected contemporary Arabic novels, namely: The General’s Prestige by Kamel Grour, Cities of Sobriety and Madness by Mustafa Ould Youssef, and Eyelashes of Fear by Mona Bachlam. The study concludes that these novels represent renewed creative experiences that have contributed to the development of the contemporary Arabic novel by transcending traditional narrative forms and opening up broader aesthetic spaces, thereby reflecting the spirit of innovation and renewal in modern novelistic writing.
