Abstract: The stories of Sufi karāmāt (miracles of the saints) constitute an imaginative narrative form that conveys perceptions of the abstract and the intangible. These narratives interact with several forms of discourse such as legend, historical reports, myth, and biography in order to strengthen the individual’s connection with the spiritual and unseen world. The reconstruction of the karāmāt narrative from reports, biographies, and tales, and its interaction with these narrative forms, has produced a distinctive textual universe in terms of both its construction and its communicative purposes. Thus, its function goes beyond mere information or entertainment to include influence and persuasion. Therefore, this paper examines the narrative components found in selected stories of the karāmāt of righteous saints in Eastern Algeria and analyzes their pragmatic and argumentative purposes, with the aim of developing a comprehensive conceptualization of the nature of Algerian karāmāt discourse through an examination of its narrative structures and argumentative functions.
