. This research paper seeks to analyze the figurative language in the poetry of Al-Mutanabbi through the lens provided by Ibn Jinni in his book titled "Al-Fassr". It is known that Al-Mutanabbi enriched his poetry with profound rhetorical beauty that perplexed critics and scholars in his era and subsequent ages. He focused on employing vivid artistic imagery that conveyed philosophical, psychological, social, and political insights, which enabled him to dominate the creative scene of the fourth century AH. Ibn Rushayq al-Qayrawani stated in "Al-Umda" that Al-Mutanabbi "filled the world and engaged people." Based on this reality, Ibn Jinni, renowned for his linguistic and rhetorical acumen, undertook the task of interpreting his contemporary's poetry according to his comprehensive rhetorical and linguistic theories. Therefore, this paper attempts to address a broader problem statement that spawns various questions, such as: What was Ibn Jinni's perspective on metaphor and truth in Al-Mutanabbi's poetry? Was he an objective critic in deducing poetic purposes based on what was employed? Or did he direct Al-Mutanabbi's creativity and his metaphors according to his own conceptual and cognitive backgrounds, evident in his use of intellect rather than mere transmission, and his defense of the figurative nature of speech? Did he attempt to highlight truth in Al-Mutanabbi's prophetic poetry through wisdom verses that are close to reality and truth?
