Résumé

Abstract Cultural globalization currently represents a significant threat to societies, particularly Arab societies, due to their unique characteristics that distinguish them from other societies, especially Western ones. There is no shared history, language, religion, customs, or any other common ground between them. Instead, these societies are moving from one extreme to another. Complicating this issue further is the multifaceted weakness that Arab societies face on all levels, in stark contrast to the strength and dominance enjoyed by Western societies. This cultural and intellectual expansion, driven by national entities and international institutions (most of which are American), has had a tangible impact on the cultural fabric of numerous societies across the globe, from the far East to the far West. This phenomenon has led to a noticeable erosion of local cultural identities, as the values, norms, and lifestyles promoted by these dominant forces often clash with the traditional and religious foundations of Arab societies. The absence of a robust cultural and institutional response from Arab societies exacerbates the situation, rendering them vulnerable to cultural homogenization and the loss of their unique identity. In this context, it is essential to analyze the mechanisms through which cultural globalization operates and its implications for Arab societies, particularly in terms of preserving their cultural heritage and resisting the pressures of cultural imperialism. The challenge lies in striking a balance between engaging with global cultural trends and maintaining the distinctiveness of Arab identity, which is deeply rooted in its history, language, religion, and traditions. Addressing this issue requires a concerted effort to strengthen cultural resilience and promote a sense of pride in Arab heritage, while simultaneously fostering critical engagement with global influences.
